About the event
"Voyage to Outer Space" Challenge: If you’ve ever wondered about visiting a distant star, join us on the “Voyage to Outer Space”. Expert project-based learning educator Bill Overton, EdD, will lead a team of young adventurers and senior specialists on an interstellar mission simulation. In preparation for the shuttle’s launch, students will take on the role of “astronauts-in-training” as educators become “payload specialists”. Together we’ll experience what it might be like to prepare for such a journey while building essential skills. Participants will be left with no doubt about why this type of immersive, integrated approach works, as teachers find more creative freedom and learners feel inspired to advance their abilities. This program helps learners understand why their academic efforts matter. It’s a compelling opportunity for each person to celebrate their teammates’ strengths and differences while practicing the skills necessary to work as a highly functional team. We can’t wait…
